Why not #OptOutside instead of shopping the day after Thanksgiving? The #OptOutside movement was initiated by REI Outfitters in 2015 by closing its doors on Black Friday to offer its employees a chance to look at the day in a new light. The adventure this year will be held at Cracker Box Palace at Historic Alasa Farms, 6420 Shaker Rd, North Rose. We will hike the yellow trail then connect to the red trail north to Thornton Point (see map link below). Please meet at 10 am and park in the event parking lot across from the main Shaker dwelling house on Shaker Road. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate foot gear. Hiking poles may be helpful. We will also have our annual Passport drawing for a $250 Wegmans gift card that day for those who have hiked 15 or 30 trails listed in the Trail Works Wegmans “Hit the Trail” Passport booklet or on the “Hit the Trail” smartphone App. You still have time to get your coupon entry in to the Cornell Cooperative Extension office in Newark to be included in this drawing.
